Statement on the Call for Condemnation of the Aggression In the name of God, the Most Merciful, the Most Compassionate

Dear scholars, researchers, and students from around the world, In response to the heinous, treacherous, and malicious aggression against the sacred land and soil of our beloved country by the bloodthirsty Israel and the criminal US government, in violation of treaties and international law, particularly the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT), we, the professors, researchers, and students of Iran's scientific community, in the strongest words condemn the attacks of Zionist occupier regime and the criminal US government. We, while supporting and adhering to the guidance of the Supreme Leader (may his grace continue) and upholding the pure principles and ideals of the Islamic Revolution, and expressing our sympathy for the families of the martyrs, emphasize the need for appropriate measures by international organizations to prevent the repetition of such attacks in the future. Undoubtedly, the unprovoked attacks, which began during diplomatic negotiations, were an overt act of aggression and a violation of the fundamental principle of national sovereignty in international law and the United Nations Charter. Such actions not only threaten regional and global stability but also inflicts severe damage to the world's legal and ethical order.
Article 51 of the UN Charter “affirms the inherent right of individual or collective self-defense if an armed attack occurs against a United Nations member. It clarifies that this right can be exercised until the Security Council takes measures to maintain international peace and security.” Unfortunately, the Security Council did not take any action and took side with the aggressors. According to Article 51 of the UN Charter Iran reserves the right for itself to strongly respond to any probably attack by the United States and also will give a destructive response to the Zionist regime in case it breaches the cease-fire. Our country has been under constant attack and economic, cultural, and social sanctions with pivotal role of the United States and the Zionist regime for years. However, in the last several days of the recent terrorist activities, over 400 of our fellow citizens have been martyred, and more than 3,000 injured, with approximately 90% of the martyrs and wounded being civilians. The murder of innocent children and women, scientists and academic elites, military commanders, and personalities, as well as the destruction of defensive centers and infrastructure in the country, has removed the thin veil of their deception and undoubtedly constitutes a clear violation of international humanitarian law and the principle of the prohibition of the use of force in inter-state relations. It is time for accountability. The world is currently undergoing a bitter and painful experience. The Zionist regime, after flouting all international laws and humanitarian norms, and in the face of global protests against its crimes against humanity and the slaughter of innocent Palestinians, has once again demonstrated its disregard for global standards. Backed by the United States, this regime seeks to dismantle the hard-fought-for norms of the world, which are valuable human achievements. Today, it is imperative for the global community and freedom-loving people to unite and condemn this apartheid regime.
We urge the United Nations, the Security Council, the International Court of Justice, international non-governmental organizations, and all scholars, researchers, students, and thinkers from Iran, the Middle East, Europe, the United States, and those around the world to condemn this blatant injustice to prevent its repetition in any part of the world in the future. It is time to take decisive, robust, and effective measure to prevent the repetition of such attack, and also to strongly condemn these aggressions, relying on their human conscience and legal duties. Let us all hold the perpetrators accountable and use all available means to condemn and call for the punishment of these criminals. “And there is no victory except from Allah, the Mighty, the Wise.” (Al-e Imran: 126)
